Wood (木) with 僉 qiān, the sound — and 僉 means all, every one. The wooden case sealed over a scroll, checked against its label; from sealing-and-verifying, to inspect: 檢查, 檢驗. 僉 carries the sound, shifted to jiǎn. 僉 also frames 簽 qiān, 險 xiǎn, 撿 jiǎn.
