木形a tree drawn whole — the trunk upright, branches reaching up, roots spreading below
A whole tree in a few strokes: the upright trunk, the branches lifting at the top, the roots splayed at the foot. From the living tree comes cut wood — 木材 timber, 木頭 a block of wood — and from wood's dead stillness, 麻木 numb, 木然 blank and unmoving.
