卒聲zú — gives the sounda soldier, the end of his rank
FTzú → zuì — the vowel rounds, the tone climbs
說文 reads it 酒卒——drink taken to its limit. The wine jar (酉) sets the field; 卒 zú, the foot soldier and the word for "finished," carries the sound and the idea of having had enough. From there: 喝醉、陶醉.
