逐
逐 = 辵 + 豕
ㄓㄨˊ · zhú
verb — to chase, to pursue; (adv) one by one, gradually
字源 FORM — what the parts do
辵義footsteps on a road — going after
豕聲shǐ — the pig, the quarry, and the donor of the sound, dragged to zhú
IFTshǐ → zhú — the sound shifts hard from the pig-donor
Footsteps on the road (辵) behind a pig (豕) — running it down. The old graph carries two tellings: 豕 is the quarry being chased, a pig run down on foot, or 豕 shǐ supplies the sound, dragged to zhú. Either way, from a hunt that closes step by step comes the sense "one by one, gradually": 追逐、驅逐、逐漸.
故事 STORY — a scene to remember it by
一頭野豬(豕)在前頭跑,腳步(辵)緊追不放——逐。
A boar (豕) runs ahead, footsteps (辵) hard on it, not letting go — the chase.
