足
ㄗㄨˊ · zú
noun — foot; adj — enough, sufficient
字源 FORM — what the parts do
口形the rounded part above the solethe loop above 止, written as 口 here for the leg, unrelated to the mouth-word kǒu
The human foot drawn whole: the sole (止) below, a rounded loop (口) above it. The old graph carries two tellings of that loop: the knee or shin-joint above the foot, or the calf rounded full — either way the part above the sole, joined to make the foot from knee down. Loaned early for what is enough, full to the brim: 足夠、滿足. As a meaning-piece it stands under every stride: 跑、踢、踏、跟、路.
故事 STORY — a scene to remember it by
圓圓的小腿(口)接著腳掌(止)落地——一隻腳,穩穩站住。
The rounded leg (口) meets the sole (止) as it lands — one foot, planted firm.
