TSUMUGU · B2 (est.) · 字
豫
ㄩˋ · yù
adj — pleased, at ease; beforehand, in advance
字源 FORM — what the parts do
Tyǔ → yù — tone shifted off the donor
An elephant (象), the largest of beasts — the original sense. 予 carries the sound yǔ, tipped to yù. From the great unhurried animal, the sense slides to ease and contentment (安豫), and the word is loaned for beforehand, ready in advance: 豫備, 猶豫 to waver, to hold off deciding.
