字源 FORM — what the parts do

hū — gives the sounda tiger's head, added later on top
IThū → chǔ — outside today's families; the -u holds
A foot (夂) comes to rest at a low stool (几) — together they write settling, staying. The tiger's head (虍) on top came in for the sound, worn from hū to chǔ. Matters settled is 處理; people settled side by side is 相處; the spot where you settle, read chù, is the place — 到處、好處.
