字源 FORM — what the parts do
毄聲jī — gives the sounda hub striking against the pole (車 wheel-end 軎 and a hand with a weapon 殳) — the collision itself
A hand (手) below delivers the blow — to strike. Up top a wheel-hub bangs the axle (軎) under a striking hand (殳), the very picture of collision. The sound carries two tellings: the whole 毄 jī on top, or just the 殳 inside it. From the blow: 攻擊 to attack, 擊敗 to strike down and defeat, 衝擊 impact.
