字源 FORM — what the parts do
The taste graph 嘗 already carried fine flavor (旨) and the sound 尚; later a mouth (口) was set beside it to make the tasting plain — 嚐, the same word with the act spelled out. Used for the tongue's work: 品嚐 to savor, 嚐鮮 to taste something fresh.
