字源 FORM — what the parts do
An upright man (士) over a mouth (口) — good words from a worthy man, and so auspicious, 善也. The two pieces stay plainly visible. From luck, the set phrases: 吉利 lucky, 吉祥 propitious, 吉日 a good day. As a sound it seeds a whole series — 結、潔、桔.
